ContainIQ made big strides in July and August, working toward another major feature release: Custom Metric dashboards. We now offer a native Prometheus integration, giving users the ability to import and graph custom Prometheus metrics directly to ContainIQ. In addition to our Custom Metrics feature, we’ve added the ability to send log alerts to custom webhooks.

Highlights:

  • Custom Metrics Dashboards
  • Log alerting - webhooks

Custom Metrics Dashboard:

ContainIQ’s Custom Metrics dashboards give users a straightforward solution to tracking unique infrastructure and application KPIs. Users can take advantage of importing and graphing any custom Prometheus metrics directly to ContainIQ, filter by any Prometheus labels, and finally users can provide any spatial aggregation function (p95, p99, max, min, sum, average) over metrics  for a given time period. There are no limits to the number of dashboards a user can create or metrics a user can graph.

In order to use the new feature, Prometheus will need to be installed and connected to the specific services a user would like to send metrics from.

How it works:

  • Connect Prometheus to your services to scrape your endpoints
  • Begin sending metrics by editing the Prometheus deployment and adding ContainIQ to the remote write endpoint
  • Create a new dashboard containing specific metrics you’d like to graph

Collect metrics from services like:

  • Lambda
  • MongoDB
  • Postgres
  • Redis
  • Kafka

For an overview of all metrics and services, please reach out to us here.

Log Alerting - Webhooks:

In addition to Slack channels, users are now able to send log alerts to any destination by utilizing custom webhooks. The new process is straightforward, we’ve just added an additional step to creating a log alert; selecting a destination. From this modal you can choose to send the alert to a dedicated Slack Channel or a custom webhook. To send to a webhook, add the authorization header, the URL where you would like to send the request, and the POST body of the webhook.

That’s a wrap for our August update. We are working on some exciting things for the remainder of August and into September, and as always we look forward to sharing them with you! Here is a quick rundown on some of the items we are getting ready to launch in the coming months:
